DAYMARE: 1998

Like many other games on this list, Daymare: 1998 sounded exciting on paper. Beginning life as a fan-made remake of Resident Evil 2, developers Invader Studios changed gears midway through production to turn the game into its own thing- which is a good thing, in retrospect, because Daymare didn’t even come close to doing justice to Capcom’s classic. At best, it was generic and uninspired, and at worst, it was sloppy, unpolished, and downright intolerable. Poor combat, bland level design, a horrible story, and even more horrible writing were just a few of the many issues that plague this game.
