MEMORY ALLOCATION (XBOX SERIES X)
Of its total of 16 GB of memory, the Xbox Series X creates two splinters that it uses differently. A total of 13.5 GB – 10 GB of GPU optimal memory and 3.5 GB of standard memory – is dedicated to games themselves, while the remaining 2.5 GB from the slower pool is used for the operating system and background functions. So, all that aside, why should this matter to the layperson? Well, plain and simple, in theory, it should mean better running and playing games. The Xbox Series X should, on paper, be able to dedicate more memory to actually running games, which also means developers would have to make fewer sacrifices as far as bandwidth is concerned.
