Like many other features that console controllers have introduced over the years, there’s no guarantee that haptic feedback will actually be a significant new addition and won’t just end up as a gimmick. But if used right, it can be a major improvement. Replacing run-of-the-mill rumble with haptic feedback that reacts to even the most granular details of a game can lead to a much more immersive experience, so here’s hoping developers can make use of it in a way so that even those who don’t care too much about the tech side of things can appreciate what it brings to the table.
