It retains the pacing, world design, story, and combat but accentuates it with incredible new visuals, balancing old-school sprites with sharp lighting and 3D environments. New content like episodes with Ortega and arenas to battle with captured monsters alongside Tactics in combat and more party customization add to the experience while retaining everything that makes it great.
