17. Sega Genesis 32X/CD

Sega attempted to lengthen the life of the Genesis unsuccessfully with two add on modules. The Sega CD was a pioneering concept that failed due to a high price point and lack of a solid games library. The 32X by comparison, despite improving the processing power of the Genesis substantially, was flawed from the start with Sega announcing the 32-bit Sega Saturn too early. Sega fans just waited out for the Saturn rather than shelling out for mid-generation add ons, leading to a massive loss for Sega from the poor sales of both add ons.
