Layers of Fear
The recently released Layers of Fear wasn’t able to garner much critical or commercial success, but the 2016 original remains a great time for horror fans nevertheless. Players are put in the shoes of a mentally disturbed painter as he makes his way through a creepy mansion to complete his magnum opus. Exploration and puzzle-solving are the two major pillars of Layers of Fear’s gameplay, and the game does a good job of juggling them with its storytelling to make for a consistently engaging experience.
