SOMA
Frictional Games are one of the few champions of deeper, psychological horror in this industry. This is a developer that has, time and again, shown that horror that slowly builds up over time can be incredibly effective, and stay with you so much longer than just jumpscares that scare you in the moment. SOMA was the perfect representation of that notion. While it de-emphasizes the gameplay elements that usually go hand-in-hand with the horror genre, its excellent storytelling, emphasis on stealth, and the incredible way it builds up its world and characters make for an unforgettable experience.
