Left 4 Dead 2
Following the game’s announcement, a few die hard Left 4 Dead players called for a boycott of Left 4 Dead 2 and formed the Steam community group which grew radically to over 10,000 members by the end of that single weekend, and then reached more than 37,000 about a month later. Due to the lack of Left 4 Dead content, they were concerned with the characters, visuals, and music shown in the E3 demonstration video, feeling that the release of the sequel so soon after the first game would fracture the community. Why didn’t Valve just include it in an expansion? The controversy has since died down.
