7. Frostbite 3
Frostbite 3 was surprisingly revealed by DICE along with Battlefield 4. We were a bit taken back with the announcement because Frostbite 2 was already supposed to be their next gen engine. The upgrades on offer here can be seen in the Battlefield 4 demo the studio showcased at GDC. The facial animations and the entire gameplay looked CGish, and while it was running on a PC, such a thing is possible on the PS4 as well, maybe at a reduced quality but at a impressive visual fidelity.
