CRYPTID
Developed by Influx Games, CRYPTID is another survival horror game that’s played through the first-person perspective. It was released earlier this year via Early Access to some favorable critical reception, and it tells the story of a hunter who returns to his home to find an abandoned town and a mysterious extraterrestrial creature following him around everywhere you go. The game starts out simple with the player having to do chores like turning on the power generators, and fixing other stuff – but the situation soon starts to escalate further as encounters with the alien become more frequent and elongated. CRYPTID makes good use of Unreal Engine 5’s featureset to create an unsettling vibe, and it also features an adaptive AI system where the creature will respond and adapt to your actions. Between an action-packed gameplay loop and multiple endings to unlock, CRYPTID looks to be a meaty horror experience that players can sink dozens upon dozens of hours into.
