8 Awesome Last Gen IPs That Never Got Sequels

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Series

Sure, The Old Republic is awesome, and I’m sure I will be playing it actively for many more months to come. But other than Mass Effect and perhaps Baldur’s Gate 2, no other BioWare game has ever had as much of an impact on me as did the KOTOR games. Even the second one, which was developed by Obsidian (awesome developers in their own rights) was a mind blowing game. It’s a huge surprise that we haven’t received KOTOR 3 already, because the two Knights games are the best damned Star Wars games we have ever played.

Baldur’s Gate Series

We probably won’t ever get to see a Baldur’s gate 3, since BioWare no longer has the rights to make a new game in the franchise. And what a shame, because both the Baldur’s Gate games are perhaps the two most influential last gen WRPGs. Baldur’s Gate 2, in particular, is mind blowing. Oh, if only BioWare could develop a sequel to the series. What a treat it would be for RPG fanatics like me.

Shenmue Series

Rumours of a third Shenmue game or perhaps an MMO Shenmue game have been circulating around the industry for, well, over a decade now. And it’s a huge surprise that these rumours haven’t come true so far, because the first two Shenmue games were nothing short of masterpieces. The two gems of the Dreamcast, both were an absolute delight to play through, and I would kill to get my hands on a sequel, if it ever gets released.
