2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Imagine a soldier who has killed his own father, not once but twice before and all of a sudden you see him standing in front of you after 15 long years. That is what happened at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4. Big Boss in his late seventies standing in front of Solid Snake urging him not to end his life and go on living. The most amazing part of this scene is when Big Boss offers to shake his hands with Snake, and just about when Snake offers his hands, Big Boss falls off. This scene is as good as or even better than the microwave scene. Metal Gear Solid Saga started with Snake versus Big Boss and it ended on a peaceful note with Big Boss signing off by saying, “This is good, isn’t it?”

1. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

The only game in my 20 years as a videogamer that actually made me cry like a baby. Shinra discovers Zack and Cloud on the barren terrain outside Midgar. Leaving Cloud hidden away, Zack goes off against an enormous number of Shinra troops, and is ultimately fatally wounded. Cloud manages to crawl to Zack’s body after Shinra has left, and Zack, in his dying breath, bequeaths the Buster Sword to Cloud as Angeal had done to him.” Embrace your dreams. If you want to be a hero, you need to have dreams”, such a true quote by Zack.
