NEMESIS
Of course, the real star of the show in Resident Evil 3 is Nemesis (his name being the original game’s subtitle kind of gives that away), and he is the primary reason we’re as excited about the upcoming remake as we are. Mr. X already all of us by surprise with how excellent he was in RE2, but as we’ll soon rediscover, that was just a taste- Nemesis is the real deal. And we really, really hope he isn’t neutered or made any less of a threat that he was. A constant pursuer, dogged in his attempts, and armed to the teeth with not just weapons, but a vast array of attacks- that’s what Nemesis needs to be in the remake, just as he was in the original. It will be interesting to see how Capcom change things around to make him work in a third person over-the-shoulder game as opposed to a fixed camera title with tank controls, but if they can make Mr. X as terrifying as he was in RE2’s remake, we’re quite confident they’ll be able to do justice to Nemesis as well.
