Dead Island: Riptide Dev: ‘We’re happy with PS3/360’, no HD texture pack for PC

Doesn't look like the PC version is filled with bells and whistles.

The Dead Island: Riptide team is quite satisfied with the current performance level of the PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s a bit logical, too, that at this stage in the generation when developers are trying to push consoles to their limits, the performance level will be found wanting in spite of all the optimizations.

When it comes to the PC version of Dead Island: Riptide, creative director of Deep Silver, Sebastian Reichert, has revealed to us in an interview that they aren’t really planning any HD texture packs and the likes.

The first game wasn’t really known for being a technical masterpiece, but it did some cool things in spite of being an open world type of game.

“No, no restrictions in the creative department. We are still happy with all the stuff we can still do on all platforms!,” Reichert said. “No extra HD packs planned yet and we don’t think they will be necessary.”

It’s nice to see developers working with what they got and also being content with it. It’s an ambitious game when you look at the design, but also something that looks quite good visually–which is quite impressive.

Dead Island: Riptide comes out next year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC
