Justin Success-Brooks has been counterfeiting Nintendo game cartridges for some time now- not normal, conventional, copy-paste counterfeiting. No, he was selling faulty cartridges via several online retailers all throughout UK.
He was warned by Nintendo and the UK Border Agency to stop doing so at one point, and once, even his was seized. However, Success-Brooks just carried on selling his faulty carts via different online retailers.
However, the freaking law has put an end to that- well, for now, at least. Success-Brooks has been put away in jail for a total of 32 months- that’s two years and 8 months, for those who don’t want to calculate for some reason- but he’s been told to expect to do only half of the time, which would be a year and 4 months.
“This was very much a proper operation,” one of the prosecutors, Francesca Levett said. “This is not like someone selling games at a market. Nintendo may be big enough to weather the storm but retailers are not.
“The damage that this has done to the reputation of online retailers is untold and incalculable.”
