Wii U CPU is slow and horrible – Metro: Last Light developer

Metro: Last Light will be released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

You can count on an Easter European developer to tell something as it is. Earlier we reported that the Wii U memory is 43% slower than the one in PS3 and Xbox 360, but now there’s more information coming out about the CPU, and it isn’t pretty.

The CPU is, apparently, very slow and horrible, and Metro: Last Light, a game that is set to appear on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, will be missing the Wii U. The developers tried to take a look at the system, though, but didn’t like what they found.

“[The] Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU,” Metro: Last Light. Chief technical officer, Oles Shishkovtsov told NowGamer.

Another developer named Huw Beynon chimed in: “We had an early look at it, we thought we could probably do it, but in terms of the impact we would make on the overall quality of the game – potentially to its detriment – we just figured it wasn’t worth pursuing at this time. It’s something we might return to. I really couldn’t make any promises, though.”

“We had an initial look at the Wii U, but given the size of the team and compared to where we were last time, just developing for the Playstation 3 is a significant addition.”

It’s nice to know that they are honest about this. Nintendo could have created something that may again be a failure with third-party developers.
