Check out the process of capturing Tess's raw movements and translating them in-game.

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, which can best be described as an action-adventure game in the vein of The Walking Dead, The Road and other post-apocalyptic ventures, has garnered quite a lot of support since it’s initial announcement at the Spike Video Game Awards 2011. Naughty Dog has since released another trailer at the Spike VGAs, but today, we receive a closer look at the overall process of motion capture for Tess, played by Annie Wersching.

The crew first follow the movement captured by the cameras, before the animators get to work on the characters’ expressions. Then they add textures and lighting, before finally finishing up the overall process with colour correction and rendering. It’s worth a look, if only for more evidence to the increasing level of depth (and cost) studios are attempting with the current generation of games.

The Last of Us is currently slated to release on May 7th 2013 exclusively for Playstation 3.
