EDGE magazine has picked its list of top 50 developers for 2012, and it’s sure to be something that will generate a lot of discussion.

For starters, they have kept Mojang–the creators of Minecraft at second–followed by Nintendo and Platinum Games. Naughty Dog is at no. 5, which is a huge compliment for them since it’s coming from Edge and they have been placed above plenty of other developers.

There are a lot of omissions in this list like Square Enix and Capcom and I honestly wonder whether they deserved such a treatment, because they have been churning out a lot of good games even though their major franchises managed to disappoint.

Rockstar North and Bungie take the no. 6 and no. 7 spot respectively. Valve has been rated the number 1 studio followed by Mojang. This is the most surprising pick of them all.
