After already having set the world crazy with the astounding tech footage for what Zelda could look like on the Wii U at 2011’s Wii U, Nintendo has now gone ahead and, for the first time, officially confirmed an HD Zelda title in development for its newest HD home console.
The game, which was given no title at all, is apparently looking to go back to the series’ basics, and will be changing the way people look at Zelda games. Several things, like the structure of the Zelda games- or how people tackle dungeons in a specific order- and how they are usually played alone were mentioned specifically as the new features that the game will focus on.
The HD Zelda title will also be much more open and less linear in the vein Skyward Sword was.
Also, series producer Eiji Aonuma mentioned during the announcement at the Nintendo Direct that while the series was bringing several Zelda graphical styles to full HD, a completely new visual style came into being, which is what will be followed in this new Zelda title. No images or any details of any sort were released, but we can be pretty sure that it’ll be pretty different from everything we’ve seen in anything to do with Zelda so far.
The Legend of Zelda seems to be taking right steps towards the direction of high definition. Nintendo has also announced a completely new, HD remake for Wind Waker to be released for the Wii U this Fall.
As for Zelda HD, no release window- much less release date- or even a title for the game were announced. Aonuma said that more details for the game would be released as it starts coming together in a better manner.
