Sometimes the best way to handle a Sonic game is just to take it back to the start. To that end, Sega of America and Sega of Europe have announced Sonic Dash for “mobile platforms”. Described as a “fast and endless running mobile game”, Sonic Dash will be developed by Hardlight Studios.

This time, the game will take place in the grassy regions of Seaside Hill, as players try to beat each for distance and time. It’s like Robot Unicorn Attack – only with an awesome hedgehog rather than a robotic mystical beast that explodes magnificently.

Sonic Dash will be releasing for the Apple App Store soon, and hopefully we’ll get some news on an Android release. The game will follow the popular Sonic Jump, also released on mobiles, although it’s still kind of funny how the most successful Sonic titles are the simplest ones. Watch out for Sonic Dash’s release when it happens.
