EA have officially released the first gameplay footage for it’s upcoming first person shooter Battlefield 4 and it is looking absolutely phenomenal.
We had earlier reported that DICE are using Frostbite 3 engine for Battlefield 4 compared to the Frostbite 2 engine they used it 2011 for Battlefield 3.
First let’s check out the two games in comparison:
Battlefield 4 is running on Frostbite 3 which supports only DX 11 on the PC. As you can see from the two videos above, Battlefield 4 has a better tessellation technology along with an upgraded Destruction Engine 4.0. Characters have better animations with believable facial expressions and new the engine has improved the lighting by a massive margin.

You can also see better particle effects and bigger maps compared to the Battlefield 3. It will be interesting to see which direction DICE takes with regards to a bigger playing world. Whether it will be present for a level or two or throughout the game, remains to be seen. Just for your information, Battlefield 3 had several maps which could be considered as big but as we all know they were not. It was mostly a linear but excellent experience.
Judging by this 17 minute footage, I believe the single player campaign will be action packed. The campaign in Battlefield 3 was pretty underwhelming and it seems DICE are taking the correct steps regarding the same. But a lot remains to be seen.
Battlefield is coming out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news and updates.
