Ubisoft Toronto’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, after a lot of rumours, has finally been announced for the Nintendo Wii U. It will release on August 20th in North America, August 22nd for EMEA territories and August 23rd in the UK.

The game takes place after Conviction and features Sam Fisher as the leader of Fourth Echelon, struggling to protect the President in the wake of a new threat called The Blacklist. The game will bring back the stealth action gameplay the series is best known for, along with several play styles and rewards for different tactics.

With the Wii U, Ubisoft will incorporate the Wii U GamePad into the gameplay, allowing you to use various gadgets, navigate the environment and switch between weapons. No word on whether there will be exclusive content and such or whether the Wii U would also be receiving the different limited editions that have been advertised. But here’s hoping.
