EA is Not Developing Anything for the Wii U

Electronic Arts’s spokesperson Jeff Brown has told Kotaku “We have no games in development for the Wii U currently.” However, this doesn’t mean that EA has completely stopped supporting the Wii U in the future. Meanwhile, those who expected EA’s most famous sport franchises on the Wii U will be slightly disappointed.

Electronic Arts had numerous games for the Wii U’s launch window such as Mass Effect 3, FIFA 12, Madden and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Technically speaking, EA was one of the biggest supporters for Nintendo’s new console since the beginning of its life.

Later down the road, EA’s support has went downhill starting with the cancellation of the next Madden title for the Wii U, and announcing that the Wii U won’t support Frostbite 3. EA’s new engine didn’t take off on the Wii U because the tests showed “not too promising results”.

As for the absence of the new Madden for Wii U, EA has stated that “we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.”

Meanwhile, FIFA 14 has not been confirmed for Wii U, even though the title is expected to come out for other consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox.

It seems like Nintendo’s Wii U has been losing a lot of support for the past few days, and it’s quite scary to see what happens next. Thankfully, the 3DS is doing a good job with its latest software titles such as the brand new Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter 3 and Luigi’s Mansion.

Let us know what you expect of Nintendo during E3 2013 later this month in the comments below.
