In a recent video interview with Game Informer (via Eurogamer), Bioware revealed just why the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition was delayed for a year to late 2014. This was done in order to allow for more different playable races within the game, especially within multiplayer.

Executive producer Mark Darrah stated that “Because we moved the date we were able to bring it back. We basically just had the time necessary to bring it back.”

Along with members of the development team who wanted the same, series creative director Mike Laidlaw also stated that the decision was “100 per cent” according to fan feedback. “Why didn’t we bring it up?. We wanted to make sure it was locked down; we wanted to make sure our homework was done so we could commit to it and people could, with absolute enthusiasm, get ready for elf or dwarf or whatever.”

Created on Frostbite 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition will feature a wide open-world and the return of Morrigan to the story (though she will not be a party member). It will release for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC in Autumn 2014.
