Pop-quiz question: In this era of free to play titles, how do you possibly entice consumers into investing in a subscription-based MMORPG such as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? Granted, Square Enix took it upon themselves to completely redo the game from the ground up to please its consumers. But that’s not quite enough to get them to take the plunge especially since free to play is king these days.

Thus, Square Enix has revealed a new incentive for taking up a long-term subscription: The Veteran Rewards system, which grants you different items and options in-game. Subscribe for 30 days and you’ll net the Wind-Up Cursor Minion. A 60 day subscription bestows a Black Chocobo Chick and Cascadier Uniform Voucher, while a 90 day subscription offers a Beady Eye creature and Voidal Resonator.

Best of all, those who go for the longer subscriptions will be able to access the items present in the lower tiered subscriptions. It’s a good incentive for netting the maximum amount of bonuses but is it worth paying? Let us know in the comments below.
