FIFA 14 launched a few days ago, and it stands as the ultimately conservative culmination of all the massive strides FIFA has made this generation. The title, which plays a bit differently from last year’s game due to its more grounded, less arcadey pace, has been the subject of a lot of fan feedback over the last few days, apparently, and now EA has responded by releasing a series of updates for the game which address some of those perceived issues; the second of these updates is due this week on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Among other things, the update fixes the following:

• Balancing lofted through balls.
• Balancing attacking headers.
• Balancing finesse shots.
• Improved defender switching during crosses.
• Freezes while making substitutions during gameplay.
• Freezes while entering and exiting Leaderboards.
• Improvements made to Dynamic Camera.
• Corrected crowd sections in Signal Iduna Park.
• Corrected “Any” and “GK” filters in Pro Clubs.

In addition, the update also fixes the freezes that seem to be plaguing the game (although we did not run into any freezes or crashes in our time with the game).

We don’t know yet whether the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will come pre-patched, or if they will need the update too. In the meanwhile, you can rest assured knowing that EA’s responded to a large part of your concerns. Or so it seems.
