Microsoft Hikes Price of Xbox One Exclusives by £5

Demand and supply.

When Microsoft launched the Xbox One in the UK on November 22, it offered first party published exclusives like Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Forza Motorsport 5 for £45. However, now, in a rather puzzling move, they have jacked the prices up for each of these games to £50.

“Yes, pricing for select digital content in some markets has changed since launch,” A Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer, when contacted about the pricing change. “Digital content pricing is subject to change and we may occasionally offer various deals or promotions. Ultimately pricing and promotions will vary by region.”

While the price hike might sound unfair (remember, currency conversion rates mean that people in the UK are still paying a whole lot more per game than, say, someone in the US), it’s still not as bad as Sony. Sony currently charges £53 for Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall.

This means that the physical copies for games across all three major platforms- Xbox, PlayStation, Wii- are cheaper than the digital copies. Good going, guys.
