PlayStation Now

Sony finally unveiled its Cloud-based, game streaming service for the PlayStation 4 in the form of PlayStation Now at CES 2014. The service allows gamers to stream PlayStation 3 games – with titles such as The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls and Puppeteer to be made available at launch – to their PS4, Bravia TV and PlayStation Vita.

You’re gonna need a fairly good internet connection though, with a minimum of 5 Mbps broadband recommended. Speaking to Polygon, Sony Computer Entertainment vice president of marketing John Koller stated that the current focus is to make PS3 games available for PS Now.

“We’ve come to a point where we feel very comfortable with the technology in terms of the latency and the types of games that are playable [through PlayStation Now]. PlayStation 3 is the tip of our spear in terms of software because we believe it’s still very current and has the largest library. The goal is trying to get a wide variety of quality and quantity of types of games.”

Eventually, we’ll be able to play PS One, PS2 and PS4 games on PS Now, with a closed beta scheduled for the end of January. Thoughts? Let us know below.
