Unity Comes to PS Vita

Unity, the powerful game development toolkit and engine that is used by indie and smaller developers, and which has already been embraced by Nintendo for Wii U, Microsoft for Xbox One, and Sony itself for the PlayStation 4, is now available on the PlayStation Vita too, The Vita Lounge reports.

In addition to the standard range of tools that Unity offers, the PlayStation Vita version also offers supports for the Vita’s unique range of inputs (its buttons, analog sticks, camera, microphone, touch screen, and touch pad), alongside integration with PSN features such as Trophies.

The arrival of Unity on Vita should make the porting process from other platforms (especially smartphones and tablets) even easier than the Vita’s current developer friendly architecture already makes it. That, in addition to an easy porting process for Unity engine games from other consoles, such as Wii U and PlayStation 4, should make a Vita SKU for multiplatform software, at the very least, an attractive prospect for developers.
