It’s no secret that open world games, especially multiplatform titles, cost a pretty penny to make. Watch Dogs executive producer Stéphane Decroix in a 2013 article on French business site Challenges indicated that the open world hacking adventure cost €50 million or about $68 million to develop.
This is without marketing costs of course, and doesn’t take into account the game’s current budget since it was delayed. Combined with added costs for the delay, all the new marketing material that had to be created and other aspects, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to believe that Watch Dog’s final budget is somewhere around $80 to $100 million.
As of now, the game has no solid release date – though rumours indicate it would be sometime in March. Watch Dogs will be releasing for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and Wii U. What do you make of these budgetary claims? Let us your thoughts in the comments below.
