Konami has indicated that depending on the success of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, it could release The Phantom Pain in either 2014 or 2015. Following a recent post-financials investor call, market analyst David Gibson revealed on Twitter that Konami may be aiming for the long run with TPP.

“Konami admitting Ground Zeroes is a bit short, MGS5 could be released in FY3/2015 or FY3/2016 depending on the development stage.” He also added that, “Konami budgeted to release 7 major console titles this year and sees the same number released in FY3/2015.”

That’s a long, long way off for sure, especially since Ground Zeroes may not end up being all that long, even with all the side missions and DLC content. Kojima believes otherwise though.

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will release on March 18th in North America and March 20th in Europe for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. What are your thoughts on The Phantom Pain coming out much later? Let us know below.
