Ever since The Last of Us: Remastered was revealed by Naughty Dog, we’ve had several details trickle out in the past 24 hours. The game will be in 1080p resolution and the developer has expressed the urge to have the game run at 60 frames per second, though it’s unconfirmed at this point.

A NeoGAF user decided to see how the pre-rendered cutscenes within the game would look in 60 FPS so that they could match the gameplay. Check out the video here.

It’s a rough simulation of what’s possible but there’s no denying that some of the overall cinematic feel of the game is diminished. Remember when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was showcased at 48 FPS (as opposed to the usual 24 FPS standard for films) and caused complaints? It’s somewhat the same sensation and could take some getting used to if Naughty Dog indeed opts for it. That’s just my opinion though – and you can bet Naughty Dog will make it look far more fluid if they do eventually hit 60 FPS.

As for other visual features in the game, it’s interesting how Naughty Dog isn’t just taking to upping the resolution and targeting 60 FPS. For this PS4 edition, the developer is looking to improve on the already excellent visual style it’s established.

One NeoGAF user decided to compare the scenery in the PS3 version versus that of the Remastered version. Check them both out below (the PS4 version is on the bottom).

The ledge itself looks more smoothed out and curved while the moss textures are noticeably less flat. You’ll also notice that the swampy surroundings are more, well, swampy and leaves have been added to the ledge as well. If this is the direction Naughty Dog is taking, the entire game will end up looking significantly better as a result.

The Last of Us: Remastered will be out on PS4 in June. What are your thoughts on the game thus far? Let us know in the comments below.
