ArenaNet and NCSoft’s strategy towards Guild Wars 2 already differs from how publishers traditionally approach MMORPGs in a multitude of ways- there is no monthly subscription fee, for example (although you must still buy the game, of course), and no expansion packs are ever offered (instead, dynamic story events are delivered for free on a routine basis). Now, the game is also going to get a similar delivery mechanism for its mechanics- the first ever ‘Feature Pack’ has been announced for the game, and it focuses exclusively on adding and enhancing the gameplay.

The biggest change that comes to the game with this feature pack is the addition of the megaserver system, which theoretically makes it easy for people to find game maps populated with friends, guild members and similar players. Other changes include an overhaul of the PvP mechanics, the addition of a wardrobe system, forty new traits, and miscellaneous social, balance, and account updates.

The update will be delivered to all players for free starting today- Guild Wars 2 should automatically become a much better experience following this feature update.
