Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Gameplay Clip Shows Cardboard Box Mechanics

Yep, it's back.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain finally got some new gameplay footage courtesy of Kojima Station. It’s nothing earth-shattering though and only showcases the return of the cardboard box. Check it out above.

The cardboard box is rather comical this time around, plopping right down around Snake as if summoned to his location. You can scope out enemies from inside the box, sneak around undetected or just pop out through the top and knock out guards with tranquilizer darts. Either way, it’s fairly in line with the series till now.

The PS4 version looks pretty good and it seems that the detail is shaping up very well. A more in-depth trailer is expected for E3 2014 but we won’t put it above Kojima to pull another fast one. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is in development for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. It is rumoured to be releasing in early 2015.
