RUF CTR3 DriveClub

Evolution Studios has recently revealed some interesting details about DriveClub on the PlayStation Blog that will, quote-unquote, blow your mind.

Some of the facts are interesting such as each car being made of 260,000 polygons, each car taking about 7 months to create from the licensing all the way to asset production and physics modelling before the final car makes it in-game, and Evolution taking more than 1000 photos for the inside and outside of each car as reference material.

Interestingly, Evolution has also revealed that the tarmac textures aren’t tiled or tessellated by rather hand-modelled with each little detail like stones and bitumen procedurally rendereded. The draw distance is also impressive, rendering up to 200 km in the horizon and following the Earth’s curvature.

DriveClub will be out on October 7th in North America and October 10th in Europe. It is also expected to be at Sony’s E3 media briefing, so stay tuned for more gameplay footage in the coming week.
