tomorrow

Q-Games is bringing over a rather lovely and pretty looking game to the the PlayStation 4. It’s called The Tomorrow Children, and it was announced yesterday as a PS4 exclusive by Sony at their Gamescom presentation.

Today, there was another presentation held b Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert where he showed off the game more, and our friends over at DualShockers have done a mighty fine job of collecting all the information for us in a convenient list. Personally, that all sounds pretty intriguing, and I look forward to seeing more of it. What about you guys?

  • The Tomorrow Children uses a new lighting technology named Cascaded Voxel Cone Ray Tracing, which allows to simulate lighting in real time, and uses actual real reflections, and not screen space reflections like most games.
  • The trailer released tomorrow was completely in-game.
  • The game is set in Soviet Russia after an experiment has gone terribly wrong, almost completely wiping out humanity.
  • The players are clones working under a mysterious deus ex machina named “The Administrator.”
  • The game is online, and the developers plan to have between 50 and 100 players playing together in the same town.
  • The game’s world is made by the town and by the island, where players go to labor and fight monsters.
  • Everything you do gets recognized by the labor office, and you get recognition point that you can use for perks and new weapons, improving your status in the community.
  • When enemy creaqtures attack, players collaborate to repel them. When they are dead, they can be mined to find crystals (used to expand the town) or matrioskas that contain humans who can be restored.
  • When the monsters manage to destriy a building of the town, players can chip in to rebuild it.
  • Resourced mined are a mix of procedurally generated and manually placed.
  • There’s a voting system planned, where players can participate to an election to become mayor of the town. Bribes are also involved to improve the odds.
