Haemimont Games’ Tropico 5 has been a moderate success on the PC but it’s still yet to release on the PlayStation . GamingBolt spoke to head programmer Ivan-Assen Ivanov to find out his thoughts on the upcoming port.

As for the differences between the PC and PS4 versions, Ivanov stated that, “Between our support for cross-platform multiplayer (which requires the same game logic running on both sides), and our plans to bring the visual improvements done for the PS4 version back to the PC via free updates, the game you’ll experience on the PS4 will exactly match what you can get on a (fairly high-end) PC.”

Given that the PS4’s 8 GB GDDR5 RAM is more than what is found in the average PC, how did it help the development of the game on the console? “In our previous console ports, fitting the game in the available RAM was a significant effort. Now this problem simply disappeared, as, indeed, we have access to more memory on the PS4 than we have on PC.”

Tropico 5 is set to release on PS4 later this year. Stay tuned for more details on an exact release date.
