In light of more persistent online titles like Ubisoft’s The Crew, Bungie COO Pete Parsons talks about how it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to review such titles in today’s age. This is also in light of the reception for the developer’s online shooter Destiny which also didn’t have review copies prior to launch.

Speaking to Games Industry International, Parsons states that, “It is true there are a lot of those people who were sceptical that are still playing it now. As we see games like Destiny coming out, it’s very difficult to sit down for nine hours, 11 hours, and write up a review of a game like Destiny, right?

“If I were a reviewer it seems like a nearly impossible challenge to do because there’s just no way. You barely experience sort of the campaign side of it and just PvP and no way you can get into all of the end game activities. So it really asks a great question which is ‘how are games like Destiny going to be reviewed in the future?’”

It’s especially interesting when you consider all the improvements and changes – some less than positive, like the Vault of Glass raid’s glitches – that Destiny has experienced since launch. Will The Crew have a similar predicament? We’ll find out in the coming weeks.
