Fallout 4: The Frustrating Wait Continues

Step up your game Bethesda.

Fallout 4: The Wait Got A Little Easier With These Astounding Modded Fallout 3 Screens

The Game Awards was one hell of an improvement over the utter travesty that was VGX 2013, but at times it was still an awkward shambling affair that felt somewhat lacklustre and without purpose. One of the things that people were looking forward to was a possible Fallout 4 announcement but Bethesda shot down any chances of that happening at the event.

The want for Fallout 4 is strong yet Bethesda won’t make any comment on its existence. You can’t simply ape another approach to your game and expect similar results. Here’s an example. Half Life 3. Does Valve ever actually talk about it? Nope. Do they know we want it? Yes. But Half Life 3 has become so ingrained in gaming culture as a social meme that they could literally release that game in anyway they chose fit and it would be a smash hit. They could put it on Steam without ever doing press for the game and sell it at $60 and still make an insane amount of profit. The same can’t be said for Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 has burned gamers, not because it doesn’t have the same staying power as Half Life  but because they want it so badly, yet Bethesda won’t even hint about it. Gamers wanted a Majora’s Mask remake on 3DS, so the developers teased a little with sly remarks and told them to wait. Halo The Master Chief Collection, people wanted it but were teased and told to wait.

Fallout 4 is desired, and they will give us nothing. I think they need to announce something soon, historically speaking the fans will only wait so long before it becomes bland. Hype will fade and expectations will become lofty with time. If the game  does eventually arrive and doesn’t deliver then I’ll be happy to throw it under the bus.
