At this point, Square Enix is becoming a studio that you hate to love and love to hate. Following in the wake of the blatantly stupid decision to only include the Final Fantasy XV demo in the first shipment (yes, the day one shipment that is otherwise in no way different) of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the games director Hajime Tabata has come out and said that the game was apparently inspired by previous Final Fantasy games.
He goes on to comment about how he draws more inspiration from III, IV, V and VI but that I and VII are still his favourite. He says this in a Square Enix conducted interview, titled “Who is Hajime Tabata?”.
An extract reads, “Previously I would have said FF-I and FF-VII were my favourite to play but while making Final Fantasy XV, some of the ones I’m referring to the most and the ones I’m drawing the most inspiration from and getting a lot out of are FF-III, FF-IV, FF-V and FF-VI.” Tabata-san says with a big grin on his face. “The more I look at them, the more I think – wow!”
At least one thing can be said for certain, the man knows how to choose his games, make no mistake.
