Evolve to Hopefully Run at 1080p/60fps On PS4/Xbox One In Future, If Not At Launch

Producer Chloe Skew also talks about the launch and potential online issues that could arise.

Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve is nearly upon us after a delay from last year and a recent beta for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There’s plenty to look forward to but the same concern comes up as to whether it will be technically sound at release.

Speaking to GamingBolt, producer Chloe Skew spoke about whether the PS4 and Xbox One versions would both run at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS. Eurogamer has already confirmed after some hands on time with the beta that the PS4 version runs at 1080p/30 FPS while the Xbox One version ran at 900p. However since that is not the final version, will it hit the golden standard at launch?

“I know that we’re aiming for sixty at 1080p so hopefully we’ll be able to have that at some point in the future if not at launch,” according to Skew. It must be noted that the game has already gone gold so we are not sure what the final numbers are on PS4 and Xbox One. But given that the beta concluded recently, there is a possibility of a day one patch that can update the game to higher resolution and frame rate, so we will make sure to keep you updated on that front.

As for whether Evolve would fall prey to the same broken launches that have haunted numerous other big-name releases in the past few months – not to mention the problems that usually arise with online games at launch – Skew said, “Well we did the big ALPHA and we just finished up our BETA. So that was done targeting towards making sure our servers work, making sure our matchmaking works. Making sure people can play online, people can play online and it’s going to be smooth.

“You know, we’ve been doing as much testing as we feasibly can given the manpower that we have and the time that we have. So you know all we can do is just test, and there’s certain issues that won’t arise until you hit a certain volume of players.

“So you can prepare for that as much as you want and hope that everything goes smoothly, but you know there’s just certain things you cannot prepare for. So we’re doing everything we can and just keeping our fingers crossed but you know, we’re not unrealistic about the fact that it can be difficult to come out with something that’s just smooth from the start.”

Evolve is out on February 10th. Will you be taking up the hunt? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for our full interview with Chloe next week.
