Ubisoft Reactivates Deactivated Assassin’s Creed Unity, Watch_Dogs And Far Cry 4 Keys

And the consumer keeps getting caught in the middle.

It came to light last week that Ubisoft was deactivating CD keys for its games on Uplay that had been bought from third party vendors such as G2A- it ultimately turned out that they were doing this because those keys had been bought using stolen credit cards, which kind of casts a shadow over these retailers’ integrity.

With that said, Ubisoft is back to reinstating these deactivated keys this week, because why should the consumer suffer in all this, really- the caveat being that they will only do this if those keys had already been used by consumers first.

“After further investigation into the matter of keys that were fraudulently purchased on EA’s Origin store, we are reinstating keys for consumers who already had successfully activated and started playing the games,” a Ubisoft representative told Eurogamer.

“Any remaining fraudulently obtained and resold keys have been deactivated.”

“We are working with EA to prevent situations like this from happening again, and we will continue to deactivate keys that are found to be fraudulently obtained and resold,” the Ubisoft representative continued.

“We strongly recommend that players purchase keys and downloadable games only from the Uplay shop or trusted retailers.”

Man, what a mess of a situation.
