Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age creator David Gaider – who was lead writer for all three games, various novels and three comic books besides being the man to create Thedas – is moving on from the series to focus on a new project sat Bioware.

Gaider announced the news via Twitter. “So a bit of news: I have decided leave Dragon Age and move onto a new, upcoming BioWare project (which I can’t discuss).”

The shift was inspired mostly by the need for change. “While it’s hard to leave Dragon Age behind, 10 years is a long time to work on any one project. I decided it was time for something new.” Whether that change involves the next Mass Effect or Star Wars remains to be seen.

Gaider did announce his replacement though. “I am happy, however, to leave Dragon Age in good hands: @PatrickWeekes will be Lead Writer once I’m gone. I can’t think of anyone better.”

Weekes has plenty of experience with the Dragon Age franchise having wrote The Masked Empire novel and various characters for Inquisition including Cole, Iron Bull and Solas along with the Heres Likes the Abyss quest line. For his part, he can’t wait to include “sexy unicorns” into the Dragon Age world. And yes, that’s (hopefully) a joke. Stay tuned for more Dragon Age news.
