The gaming industry is no stranger to DDoS attacks that are often launched at gaming services- just in the last one year, Xbox Live and PSN were both affected by a lot of downtime thanks to DDoS attacks launched by the Lizard Squad, which crippled the network (most memorably over the holiday season). Now, Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer has revealed that he is working with both, Sony and Nintendo, to do something about the DDoS menace.

“I don’t think it’s great when PSN goes down. It doesn’t help me,” he said. “All it does is put the fear and distrust from any gamer that’s out there, so I look at all of us together as this is our collective opportunity to share what we can about what we’re learning and how things are growing.

“Those conversations happen, which I think is great.” Of course, I find this interesting, because, you know, Nintendo never actually gets DDoS’d. Still, I guess it’s good to take pre-emptive measures.
