Mortal Kombat X isn’t due to release until April 14th but retails have already begun to sell the game early, according to the Mortal Kombat community on Reddit. Users have reported receiving their copies early and plenty of Twitch streams have begun to emerge (though they are removed later).
More than spoilers though, the early release has confirmed that NetherRealm Studios’ online fighter has a day one patch. At 1.8 GB, it updates the game to version 1.01 and aims to improve online stability, improve multiplayer invites, implement gameplay fixes and balancing, fix localized languages and squash other bugs.
The patch also apparently reduces the currency earned from winning fights, which is necessary for unlocking new Krypt events. It’s possible that this is an unintentional change or simply a late balance adjustment. Regardless, we’ll find out more when the game releases worldwide.
Mortal Kombat X will be available next week for Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS and Android. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be out in June.
