Sega Confirms It Will Not Be At E3 This Year

Uh-oh.

This year’s E3 is looking to be one of the biggest ones we have had in quite a while, with companies such as Bethesda and Square Enix confirming that they will be hosting E3 keynotes, in addition to usual suspects such as Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft. Even PC will be having a press conference of its own.

One company, however, has confirmed that it will he sitting out on the festivities. Speaking to Game Informer, a representative from Sega confirmed that the company would not be at E3 in any capacity, but that Sega products might still be highlighted by its partners.

“Over the next months, SEGA of America will be focusing on the restructure and relocation to Southern California, and we have decided to not attend E3 with our own booth this year,” Sega said. “With the majority of our bigger titles launching later in 2015/2016, particularly those from our AAA studios Relic Entertainment, Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly, we are concentrating our efforts for some of these major announcements after our relocation. Instead, we will be collaborating with our various business partners for this year’s E3 show.”

What this means is, while Sega itself won’t be there, Sega games may be highlighted by, say, Sony or Nintendo, or so on.

Also important to note, Sega not being there does not preclude Atlus being there- while Atlus is owned by Sega, it functions independently. Persona 5 at E3 might still happen.
