Microsoft has announced that the May system update has officially gone live and this particular update brings plenty of goodies for the Xbox One. Front of center of this particular release are a couple of social aspects that should make it even easier for Xbox One users to communicate with and find new friends to play games with.

Announcing the new features on the official Xbox website, the company first unveiled the ability to leave voice messages inside the Xbox One messages application. This particular feature allows for users to do a quick double tap of the Xbox button. The voice messages can be sent through the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 consoles.

Next up is the announcement that Microsoft is going to be increasing the availability of dedicated servers for the company’s Party Chat feature. The company  has been slowly rolling this out to select users for a while. Now Microsoft says it wants to offer it up to even more users in preparation of having a wide release.

Far less flashy, but still plenty useful are also a couple of updates that have to do with turning the Xbox One on and off as well as a power saving mode. Specifically this update will allow users to either put the Xbox One in the usual “instant on” mode, where users can turn on the console by saying “Xbox On.” The other choice is a power saving mode that will actually have users pushing the power button to get the console to boot up.

Microsoft is also bringing a new feature that would allow people to power their Xbox One on and off using the mobile SmartGlass app, as long as users are on the same Internet network as the console.
