Moonrise

State of Decay developer Undead Labs has unveiled their newest project and it’s not quite what we expected. Moonrise is a real time creature fighter which will be entering Steam Early Access on May 27th for PC and Mac. The game seeks to combine collectible card game mechanics with fighting game competitive, combining strategy and brawling into one package.

Players will take on both AI opponents and real players with Solari, teams of creatures that have their skill sets to customize and which can be leveled up in various ways. This means numerous creature builds for a variety of styles. The game has been in closed beta since March and the Early Access release will serve to polish the core systems further.

Studio founder Jeff Strain stated that “Early Access has become an invaluable part of the development process and we’re incredibly excited to let the Steam community come in and kick the tires on Moonrise. When you need honest feedback from dedicated gamers, there’s no better community than Steam and I look forward to hearing what they have to say.”

Players can pay for two premium bundles – $14.99 and $19.99 – which both offer Early Access, two exclusive Solari skins and premium in-game content with the latter package offering a bit more. Stay tuned for more information on the game in the coming weeks.
