Good news for PlayStation 4 fans who might have missed the pre-show – DLNA support is finally coming to the PS4 tonight. It will be launched alongside a new media player and support various types of video, music and photo formats. The feature has been requested by fans for a very long time and even when Sony promised to deliver it, there was still a long waiting period.

Nevertheless, it’s finally here. Some of the supported file formats include MKV (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile Level 4.2) with MP3, AAC LC and AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio; AVI (MPEG4 ASP, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile Level 4.2) with MP3, AAC LC and AC-3 (Dolby Digital); MP4 (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile Level 4.2) with AAC LC, AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio; and various photo formats like JPEG, BMP, etc. You can also check out what the new media player may look like above (though the design is subject to change).
