The controversy regarding paid mods on Steam hasn’t quite died down, despite both Valve Software and Bethesda Softworks pulling the same from their respective services. While there is still concern, Bethesda is currently focused on delivering its upcoming open world apocalyptic RPG Fallout 4.

Speaking to GameSpot, Bethesda’s Pete Hines said, “Honestly, [we have] bigger fish to fry right now than sorting that out.”

Will paid mods make a return? As of now, Bethesda is still re-evaluating it.

“We’re going to re-evaluate it going forward. There is a case to be made that people who spend a lot of time working on mods ought to be able to have a way of monetizing what they’re doing.

“I honestly, genuinely, don’t know what it means for the future. It was an idea we worked on with those guys for Skyrim; it didn’t pan out. It came back down.”

Thank goodness it’s not coming back before Fallout 4 receives mods on Xbox One and PC when it releases this November.
